Welcome to the Preschool Classroom
The preschool classroom is for children from the ages of 3-4 years old.  The
teacher to child ratio in this classroom is 1:10 and 2:1

A developmentally appropriate approach to preschool education is given to each
child.   Independence, problem solving and positive self control are the primary
goals of the Giraffe Room.

The academic primary goals include:
•        School Readiness Skills
•        Writing their name
•        Counting
•        Sorting
•        Recognizing many letters of the alphabet
•        Science  exploration
•        Communicating effectively with peers and teachers
•        Cleaning-up after themselves and taking care of the classroom

Some activities include:
•        Independent and group reading/looking at books
•        Group discussion
•        Process art using open-ended materials
•        Cooking and science experiments
•        Explore natural materials, magnets, magnifying glasses, science experiments
•        Theme focused dramatic play
•        Practice self-help skills including putting on shoes, brushing teeth, cleaning
          the classroom, setting tables, etc.
•        Small motor activities such as stringing beads
•        Large motor activities such as throwing and catching
